NAPLES IS ROCKIN’ CONCERT PROCEEDS OF OVER $82 THOUSAND DONATED FOR EVERGLADES CITY HOUSING NEEDS

Naples, Fla.(February 27, 2018) – Over $82,000 in proceeds from the December 2017 Naples is Rockin’ Hurricane Irma Relief Concert starring Sugar Ray has been donated by the Community Foundation of Collier County to Habitat for Humanity for construction to resolve unmet housing needs in Everglades City.

A check presentation was made at the February 27 meeting of the Collier County Board of County Commissioners.

The concert was supported by a $125,000 donation of Collier County Tourist Development Tax funds along with donations from many other area sponsors.

“This concert was a chance for residents and visitors to celebrate the area’s recovery and raise money for those in the community that still needed help,” said Jack Wert, executive director of the Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention and Visitors Bureau.

“This money really helps a lot,” said Everglades City Mayor Howie Grimm. Grimm urged the community to continue to support Everglades City, which suffered damages from a 9-foot storm surge and high winds during Hurricane Irma.
